Someone needs to grab me and keep me from buying the rest of the series and reading it all back to back. Because I so wanna.Mercy is a perfect heroine. Capable of great deeds, but completely humble. She resists the overbearing men in her life, but knows when it's better to let them do things their way. She has her issues with Adam's dominant nature, but she can still talk to him about it like the big girl she is. She's less deft with handling Samuel, but old flames are harder to deal with anyways. It's hard to turn back something that's already happened. The action plot is much better done than in Moon Called. It builds slowly, gathering momentum, gnarls and twists as it goes, then climaxes cleanly and naturally, without an awkward "bad guy confesses all" moment. The sequel seeding is there, but not obviously. There are no grossly untied threads taunting the reader cliffhanger style, just possibilities to wonder about.
